Mystery Weekend 53 Show & Tell

Wow! Susan and I have finished our 53rd Mystery Weekend here at Glad Creations.  That's a lot of quilts!

I think the best part of Mystery Weekend for us is the "Show and Tell" that we see.  We love seeing what everyone has been up to.  It's always a mix of Glad Creations designs that have been completed, projects from other classes and wonderful project from many other sources.  We had a couple folks who have been working on their "52 Finishes".  They had lots of quilts to show!  If you don't know what "52 Finishes" is, check out Susan's January blog post.  We're all getting so much done!

Enjoy our slide show!  We've labeled quilts in the show that are Glad Creations patterns.  With the exception of "Connect the Dots", you'll be able to find them in the pattern section of our website.   "Connect the Dots" was our Mystery Weekend from last fall.  We saw several that were completed.  The pattern will be available in June. What fun!

Show and Tell at Mystery Weekend #51

It's time for another fun slide show! We've had an great time teaching our Mystery Weekend #51 quilt this month. We had about 60 participants for this round of Mystery. Everyone got lots done and loved the quilt. We won't be showing you the new mystery quilt yet because folks who are doing the pattern as Mystery by Mail are just getting started.

Our Mystery Weekends are one of the highlights of the year for us. We love getting together with long-time friends as well as getting to know new friends. One of the best parts of each weekend is the great show and tell that we see. We love seeing the completed quilts from past Mystery Weekends. We're also amazed by all the other inspiring quilts that participants bring to share. It's so fun to see what everyone has been working on.  Thanks to everyone who shared their creations with us!

As you watch the slide show you'll see that quite a few people finished their Mystery #50 quilt from last fall. That quilt is called Fabulous Fifty. We'll have it ready as a pattern later this spring.

So, here's our slide show of the photos we snapped. We added names to the photos that are Glad Creations patterns. Also noted are quilts made in classes at the shop.

 Enjoy!

Mystery Weekend #50 Show & Tell at Glad Creations

Wow! We've finished our 4th session of Mystery Weekend #50 here at the shop. We had about 75 participants in 4 sessions. We saw loads of fun show & tell - always a highlight of the weekend!  It's so fun to see all the wonderful designs and fabric selections. We snapped some photos so we can share it with you!

We saw quite a few quilts that were started in previous Mystery Weekends. I've labeled the names of quilts that were made using Glad Creations patterns. We also saw several versions of Glacier Star, a quilt designed by Judy Niemeyer, that were started in a class at the shop with instructor Julie Arrowood. We saw a couple Bali Wedding Star quilts too, also from a Judy Niemeyer design, started in class with Julie this past year.

So, sit back and enjoy the show!

Men who quilt

We went to the Minnesota Quilters meeting on Saturday. The topic for both April meetings was "Men Who Quilt". One of the featured speakers was our very own Nathan Carter. He did a terrific job and showed at least 20 of his quilts accompanied by much applause. He has a great sense of color and showed some wonderful quilts, many of which were from Glad Creation patterns. I know everyone there enjoyed his presentation. We are very pleased that he is a member of our staff.

The other speaker was Doug Leko. He has been designing his own line of patterns for several years now, even though he is only 18 years old. He showed many of the quilts that he has designed, some from his newest book.

Thanks for a great presentation by both of these men. We and I'm sure the rest of the Minnesota Quilters enjoyed a fun and inspiring meeting.

Dakota County Star Quilters

Nancy and I will be the guest speakers at the Dakota County Star Quilters meetings on Tuesday, Feb. 14. This will be in conjunction with their quilt show at the Dakota County Historical Society in South St. Paul. You can go to their website at http://dakotacountystarquilters.org/quilt_show.htm to find out all of the details. We show about 30 quilts, some older, some newer and talk about the history of our shop. We also talk about how we design our quilts. We have around 80 quilts in our pattern line now. We're looking forward to meeting new quilters, seeing lots of friends, seeing their quilt exhibit and sharing our story.

We will have 2 brand new quilts on display plus lots of others and a new mystery by mail ready. We will also be demonstrating some of our favorite tools. We have fallen in love with the rulers made by Deb Tucker for Studio 180 Designs. We'll show you how to use the Tucker Trimmer, the Wing Clipper and the Square-squared rulers. Hope you stop by our booth (H204-206). We're looking forward to seeing you. The show runs from Thursday, June 17 -Saturday June 19. It's always one of the highlights of the year!
